It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 19th Annual Sugarloaf Charity Summit. The Summit is an inspiring tradition for the resort and the community. While I regret that I am not able to be in attendance with you, I am sure you will be pleased that Seth Wescott has agreed to take over my roll of welcoming you here this evening. Thanks to the incredible generosity of the Sugarloaf community, this event has raised more than $2,700,000 in the battle against cancer in Maine. This money has supported the tireless work of the Martha B. Webber Breast Care Center, Maine Cancer Foundation and the Dempsey Center. Those who are fighting or have fought cancer know that it can be an inexhaustible opponent. Thankfully, the generosity of the Sugarloaf community has proven equally limitless. Despite the various challenges facing individuals and businesses each year, the spirit and generosity of Sugarloaf community has never wavered. This event offers an opportunity for us to remember those loved ones we have lost, support those in the midst of treatment and to pledge hope for the future. Thank you for your continued support.

You've Got a Friend C A NC ER S URVIVO R CEREMO NY SONG When you're down and troubled And you need some love and care And nothing, nothing is going right Close your eyes and think of me And soon I will be there To brighten up even your darkest night You just call out my name And you know wherever I am I'll come running, to see you again Winter, spring, summer or fall All you have to do is call And I'll be there You've got a friend If the sky above you Grows dark and full of clouds And that old north wind begins to blow Keep your head together And call my name out loud Soon you'll hear me knocking at your door
You just call out my name And you know wherever I am I'll come running, running, yeah, yeah, to see you again Winter, spring, summer or fall All you have to do is call And I'll be there, yes, I will You've got a friend You've got a friend Ain't it good to know you've got a friend? Ain't it good to know, ain't it good to know, ain't it good to know You've got a friend? Oh yeah now, you've got a friend Yeah baby, you've got a friend Oh yeah, you've got a friend

For us, it’s personal. Cancer touches us all, and that is as true for the Sugarloaf family as any other. Too many of our employees, family members, and friends have fought this terrible disease, which is why we continue our work with the Charity Summit year after year. Thanks to your efforts, we have raised over $2 million to support the fight against cancer, and we’re nowhere near done. Our community is unlike any other in spirit and generosity, and nowhere is that more evident than at the Charity Summit.
From all of us at Sugarloaf, thank you.

Franklin Savings Bank recently celebrated 150 years of community banking by donating $150,000 to various nonproot organizations throughout Franklin, Oxford, Somerset and Hancock counties. Our sesquicentennial was not so much a celebration of ourselves, but a celebration of our communities. In all, 60 local nonproots chosen by the public shared in the $150,000 from FSB’s Community Development Foundation with gifts ranging from $10,000 to $1,000.
