JULY UPDATES It is officially summer! That means that there will be plenty of hot days ahead of us. As a reminder, please make sure to stay hydrated. It’s always important to drink water, but even more so during the hot summer months. If you need somewhere to cool down, stop by the center and try a new activity. This month we celebrate our country’s independence. We hope you have a fun and safe time celebrating with your friends and family. Joslyn and Tuttle will be closed on Monday, July 4 for Independence Day. Please note that all classes will be canceled. We will re-open on Tuesday, July 5. There are a couple of events occurring at Joslyn this month. First off, we have a Sensory Painting Event sponsored by Welbe Health on July 12. Get in touch with your creative side and stimulate your brain. Just like all of our previous Welbe Health events, we’re sure it will be a lot of fun. Make sure to RSVP before the spots fill up. We also have our first Doc Talk of the year, sponsored by Optum, on July 13 with Dr. Beatris Ther Hacopian. Dr. Hacopian will be giving a presentation on diabetes. Visit our events page for more information.

Na Kupuna Hula o Joslyn (the senior Hula dancers of Joslyn) meets every Thursday morning. Together in an atmosphere of friendship, fun, and Aloha spirit, they practice the art of Hula, the dance of Hawaii. Beginners meet at 9:45am to learn some basic step patterns. From 10:00am-10:30am they work on one of their easier dances. From 10:30am-11:30am, the intermediate/advanced class learns and practices more intricate, but beautiful dances. A LOOK BACK AT OUR JUNE EVENTS

As of June 7, the Hybrid Meal Distribution model successfully started at all three “Grab and Go” sites. This model of meal distribution has given our participants the opportunity to either dine-in and socialize with the rest of participants, while also practicing social distancing, or grab the meals as it has been practiced after pandemic. As of July, breakfast will no longer be served.
