WE’RE IN THIS TOGETHER As we begin to return to program operations, our priority is the health and well-being of our community members. Staff will continue to work closely with State and local officials and follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines to slow the spread of COVID-19. The re-opening of parks and facilities will occur in phases and requires physical distancing and infection control practices. The City has adopted a framework of thoughtful best practices and policies to safely resume full operations in a phased approach that best serves the community. We are excited to welcome you back and look forward to seeing you soon!

NEW FACILITY OPERATIONAL PROCEDURES: Protecting and supporting staff and customer health Staff has been trained on enhanced precautions and safety measures. Protective equipment will be utilized by staff and throughout the facility to minimize risk. Handwashing and regular disinfecting Enhanced healthy hygeine, cleaning and sanitation standards are adopted to ensure proper infection control. Physical Distancing Occupancy is limited in accordance to health and safety guidance. Distancing markers are placed to guide in physical distancing requirements. Posted Signage Signage is posted to communicate the most up to date protocols; please adhere to all posted signage. Ensuring Equitable Access to Services Access to critical services is prioritized.

BURBANK NUTRITION SERVICES Currently Open for Enrollment

PROJECT HOPE

Currently Open for Enrollment Project Hope is a free program that pairs volunteers with Burbank residents age 55 or over and disabled adults. Volunteers assist with over-the-phone companionship, grocery shopping, picking up prescriptions, dropping off items at the post office, and fulfilling other essential errands individuals may need completed on their behalf. If you are in need of assistance with any of these services, or are interested in volunteering for Project Hope, please contact the Burbank Volunteer Program (BVP) at 818.238.5370 or email BVP@burbankca.gov.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Burbank Nutrition Services (BNS) offers qualified residents age 60 or over with weekly drive-thru meal pick up. For those unable to pick up, meal distribution is coordinated through the Home Delivered Meals (HDM) program. The suggested donation is $3.00. To enroll in Burbank Nutrition Services or for more information, contact 818.238.5366.

Burbank Bus Senior & Disabled Transit provides transportation service to residents age 60 or over or disabled (with doctor’s certification). The City of Burbank’s Art in Public Places Program was founded on the belief that the visual environment plays an essential role in creating the atmosphere for an enterprise culture and civic confidence vital to growth and improvement. This program has made it possible for recognized artists to enhance public spaces throughout the City with sculpture, murals, and environs. HIKES & ACTIVITIES As of August 1, all docent-led hikes and Nature Center programs are temporarily suspended. Activities are 1 to 1½ hours. Hike length and difficulty will vary. STOUGH CANYON AND WILDWOOD CANYON HIKING TRAILS Wildwood Canyon and Stough Canyon hiking trails reopened on Friday, May 8th. The Verdugo Mountainway is an extensive trail system which extends from the Sun Valley area, south to Brand Park in Glendale, and northeast to Tujunga and La Crescenta. Please adhere to posted signage and follow safety guidelines. Trail users over two years old will be required to wear face coverings at trailheads, in parking lots, and at destination points along trails. DeBell Golf Club re-opened on May 8, please follow new protocols and posted signage. The DeBell Golf Club is an 18-hole facility which features 5,608 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 71. The course rating is 68.9 and it has a slope rating of 122 on Kikuyu grass. DeBell Golf Club also offers four clubs to be a part of: The Burbank Men’s Golf Club, The Burbank Senior Men’s Club, The Burbank Women’s Club, and The Lady Duffers. For more information on these clubs please contact the Pro Shop for details. This club offers a regulation 18-hole course and a Par-3 course. The regulation course is very tight and hilly making it challenging for the more seasoned golfer yet still enjoyable for the beginners. Reservations can be made up to seven days in advance by calling 818.845.0022.

Get Golf Ready 2.0 If you are new to golf and are looking for a program to give you all the information you need to get started and playing on a golf course fast then this is the class for you. The Parent & Child Level A class is designed to get young children introduced to an aquatic environment by emphasizing a fun experience in the water. In addition to introductory skills to improve comfort in the water and swimming readiness, safety skills and cues will also be covered. AQUATICS Preschool Level 1: Starfish (Max 4) Goal: Water Adjustment

In Level 1 instructors focus on encouraging students to be comfortable in the water and teach skills which are fundamental to the swimming process. Skills include blowing bubbles, putting face in the water, supported floats on front and back, and supported arm and leg actions on front and back. Prerequisite: None *Due to physical distancing requirements, with the safety of our students and instructors in mind, one parent will be required to be in the water for each lesson of this level. Instructors will be present on deck instructing students and parents in skills, while parents will be working 1-on-1 with their child. With adult supervision and aid, this class will teach children introductory swim and water safety skills similar to our Level 1 course. For children who have had limited exposure to aquatic environments, this class will work on improving skills and comfort in the water. The class is also designed for children who are not quite tall enough for Level 1 but have the ability to learn the same skills. The goal of the class is for the child to learn basic independent swim skills, such as floating, gliding, and combined arm and leg movement with forward progression with support. Non-Resident fees include an additional $10 per person, per class. Enrollment is subject to availability. Programs are filled on a first come, first served basis. Only perform exercises to the extent you can breathe comfortably while wearing a face covering over both your nose and mouth at all times. 3 Physical distancing of six (6) feet must be maintained at all times.
