CREATE ART
Inside the Betsy Lueke Creative Arts Center Pottery Studio, creativity takes shape one piece at a time. More than 200 students participate in classes, shaping clay into unique works of art that are fired in the kiln. Each creation is fired, glazed, and fired again, with every kiln carefully packed like a giant puzzle. Want to try it yourself? Year-round classes in pottery, drawing, painting, and more give children and adults opportunities to get creative.

CONNECT WITH ART
DISCOVER ART LOCALLY
Parks and Recreation recently welcomed its first Cultural Affairs Supervisor, a new role dedicated to growing opportunities for the community to connect through creativity. This position will help shape the future of cultural arts in Burbank.
Art doesn’t have to live inside a gallery. Through the Burbank Arts Beautification Program, everyday utility boxes have become canvases for artists throughout the community.
From supporting cultural arts programs and local artists to building partnerships and bringing new ideas to life, the role helps strengthen a creative community where everyone can find a way to experience the arts.
4 Registration
Today, 84 boxes feature original artwork inspired by themes such as Just Imagine, Soaring, and DiverseCity. Keep an eye out the next time you’re around town. Your next favorite piece of art might be hiding in plain sight.
Winter Recreation Guide 2027
The City of Burbank invites you to ART LOCALLY! From neighborhood corners to gallery walls, Burbank is filled with art waiting to be discovered. It’s displayed in galleries, shaped by hand in local studios, painted across unexpected places, and woven into the public spaces we share. Whether you want to create something of your own or discover a new artist, there are plenty of ways to experience creativity right here in our community.
SEE ART
You don’t need a ticket to a museum or a trip outside the city to experience something creative. Visit a gallery. Take a class. Shop handmade. Look a little closer at the streets and spaces around you. However you choose to experience it, Art Locally!
Some works of art don’t just decorate Burbank, they become part of the city itself. Since 1992, the Art in Public Places Program has helped bring more than 130 works of art into developments and public spaces throughout Burbank. The collection gives residents and visitors opportunities to encounter art as they move through the city.

EXPERIENCE ART
SHOP ART
There’s always something new to discover at the Betsy Lueke Creative Arts Center Gallery. Each month, a new exhibition brings local and regional artists into the spotlight, filling the gallery with different styles, mediums, and perspectives.
What began approximately 30 years ago as a small sale featuring 10 to 20 artists has grown into one of the Betsy Lueke Creative Arts Center’s favorite holiday traditions.
Behind the scenes, every exhibition is carefully brought to life. Artwork is arranged by color, size, medium, and flow, and a piece may move four or five times before finding just the right spot.
Winter Recreation Guide 2027
Today, the Holiday Arts & Crafts Boutique brings together more than 80 participants, offering original pottery, paintings, photography, jewelry, ornaments, textiles, and more. Every piece is handmade, making it a great place to find something one-of-a-kind while supporting Burbank’s creative community. View page 10 for Boutique hours and information.

Lucas, a recent Yale MFA graduate, is hired to direct an abridged production of Romeo and Juliet for a local senior citizens retirement facility. Hilarious complications arise among the elder actors during rehearsals as an unexpected romance reblossoms between Rich and Rose, the two star-crossed lovers/residents at the facility. As this comedy about second chances unfolds, we’ll watch both Lucas and his cast of headstrong seniors wrestle with Shakespeare and real-life drama. But will they be able to come together as a team and actually pull off opening night? The odds are against them, but the play must go on…no matter what.
This program is supported in part by a Community Arts Grant from the City of Burbank

Sewing, Knitting & Crocheting Group
The Sewing, Knitting & Crocheting group at the Joslyn Adult Center is the place to be if you love the craft, and want to simultaneously support various charities through your project donations! Come make new friends and have a great time sharing and working on projects together, regardless of your experience, all levels are welcome! In the group, you will be making and donating items such as hats, baby blankets, scarves, and quilt blankets All projects are donated to support local, national and international charities. Yarn and patterns are supplied to the members through yarn donations and some dollar donations to our group. Completed projects are either delivered locally or shipped nationally to the charity by the group leader.
