Time for the big dance!

The Youth League Women are thrilled to play in today’s BigV Youth League Women 1 Grand Final at EDSC against the Camberwell Dragons.

Last week, our team played a very strong semi-final against Wyndham, finishing 11 points clear to earn our spot in today’s clash. It was great to see the team stay very internal and focused throughout the many momentum swings in the game. Led by a phenomenal 37-point effort from Tahlia Leeson, Keira. Lindemans stood tall with 12 rebounds and 5 assists, with Ayuen Akot, Alexya Charalambous and Felicity Warrel also helping out on the scoreboard.

For tonight’s Grand Final, we welcome the Camberwell Dragons. Last week, Camberwell overcame the previously undefeated Eltham Wildcats to earn their spot in today’s match. We know today will be a very close match up, having only lost by 1pt to Camberwell in Round 8, and then only beating them by 2pts in Round 16. Today will not only be a battle of skill but ultimately a battle of determination. It will require a full squad effort in order to secure the championship win today.

This season has been one of the most enjoyable and rewarding seasons that I have ever been a part of. It has been a joy to see the team improve and bond throughout the entire season. The girls have continuously pushed themselves outside of their comfort zones and always given 120% effort. It is this determination to exceed expectations that has landed us in this final today.

Lauren and I are extremely proud of the girls and cannot wait to see what tonight holds.

Win or lose; it will be a fantastic display of women’s basketball. As always, thank you for your support for the entire season. Bring all the energy you can muster for tonight’s final! Make it loud!!! Go Boomers!
