"Wc havc not yet recovered fronr the crillpling cffects of thc 'l'aul Ilunyan \\/inter' of Jantrary and liclrruary," Sinrlrson said. "Last year by this tirrre, we ha<l cut 2,166,238,000 board feet. We will fall belorv 1948's record first quarter cut by 480 million feet."
"While some mills are still handicapped by lack of log su1>ply," Simpson said, "the industry as a whole is pretty wcll back to normal operation. By the end of April most logging camps rvill be opened, although late heavy snows have affected log supply in some areas."
