Termite Attack

This is in reference to (The Arizona Republid article dated July 17, 1989, regarding termites and pest control.

The United States Department of Commerce rates Arizona the tenth lowest state nation-wide for termites. Termites exist in humid areas, the deep south, and Hawaii.

Since the predominant home construction in Arizona is concrete slab, the building codes require redwood or pressure treated lumber for plates and ground treatment spraying.

I hope the pest control industry will clean up their act. I also urge the governor to place a wood industry representative on the Structural Pest Control Board, since wood is the main target lor termites. That representative would be a valuable addition.
