Builders FirstSource is pulling out of the metro Denver, Co., area due to economic conditions and its competitive position in the market.

With its lease up in the summer, the 83-unit pro chain decided to close its Denver. Co.. yard after receiving an unsolicited offer to buy its Fountain, Co., location. The closure and sale to an unnamed party are anticipated to be finalized by the end of the year.

Simpson Heading For Tacoma

Simpson Investment Co. plans to relocate from Seattle, Wa., to new offices in Tacoma, Wa., adjacent to its Simpson Tacoma Kraft paper mill and Commencement Bay Lumber sawmill.

Last year, Simpson decided to split its holdings into two companies: Simpson Resource, which took over the timberlands and will remain based in Seattle, and Simpson Investment, which retained the manufacturing facilities for Simpson Timber, Simpson Door, and Simpson Tacoma Kraft. The move is expected by April.
