Stephen W. Shields, 78, former vice president and partner for Independent Lumber & Supply Co., Missoula, Mt., died May 5, 1994, in Billings, Mt.

Mr. Shields joined Independent in 1969, retiring in 1981. A charter mernber of the Montana Building Material Salesmen Association, he served as president in 1959 altrd 1974 and until recently continued on the gfoup's scholarship commiftee.

Dick Shafer, 44, assistant manager of Knoll Lumber & Hardware Co., Kenmore, Wa, died of a heart attack May 15, 1994,in Seattle, Wa

He joined the company in 1981, recently receiving a degree in history ftom the University of Washington.

Richard "Bud" Nelson, 65, retired v.p. of Buena Park Lumber, Buena Parlg Ca., died July 23,1994.

Mr. Nelson joined the farnily business in 1954 and with brother Jim helped add the home center section to the yard. He retired in 19M.

Sequoia Supply, Phoenix, Az., alrd Fairfiel4 Ca, and Guardian Purchasing Corp., Seattle, Wa., adopted the name Primesource Inc. July l.

Although a part of PrimeSource's building products distribution business, they had been known by their individual names. Metropolitan Wholesale Supply, Miller Supply and Pan American Building Material also are using the PrineSource name.
