Simpson Renames Divisions

Simpson Timber has done away with the Arcata Redwood Co. and Simpson Redwood Co. names, renaming the entire organization Simpson Timber Co., California Operations.

The unit is divided into the Korbel Lumber Division, including the Korbel sawmill and remanufacturing plant, and the Arcata Lumber Division, including the Orick sawmill, Big Lagoon sawmill, and Samoa/Brainard Yard remanufacturing plants.

Sales account assignments remain the same under the direction of seneral sales mgr. Bill Scott.

Ace Unveils Credit Card

Ace Hardware Corp. has introduced the Ace Credit Card program to be managed by Ray MacDonald, who is currently at Allweather's Fort Collins, Co., plant. improve retailers' cash flow resulting from uncollected receivables and to provide additional financing options for consumers.

The addition of a fifth treating facility increases Allweather's annual production to more than 130 million bd. ft., making it the largest wood treating company in the West.

"Ace stores who opt for the program will no longer have to assume the risk of financing customers with inhouse accounts," said v.p.-controller Lori Bossmann. "By freeing up these funds, the average home center and lumberyard has the opportunity to extend credit to their customers without the headaches of collection."

Currently, some 600 Ace stores are participating in the program with more expected to sign on in the coming months. she said.

Developed in conjunction with GreenTree Financial Services, the program offers credit options tailored to the needs of specific groups of customers. A standard card also is available for Ace Contractor Centers, while a card design for Ace Commercial/ Industrial dealers is being considered.

As their credit card volume increases, retailers will be rewarded with reduced discount rates, as low as l.25Vo, Added benefits include customer credit approval within minutes, fast funding, high credit lines, customized statement messages, and convenient merchant service hours.

Anyone involved with the manufacture, distribution or sale of products and services in the woodworking industry is invited to the AWFS Woodworking Machinery & Furniture Supply Fair July 29-Aug. I in Anaheim. Ca.

More than 750 exhibits will be packed into 350,000 sq. ft. of the Anaheim Convention Center.
