A RIZONA dealers should be aware '- of the month of May as "Home Improvement fime."
At the national level this is spon- sored by National Association of Home Builders. National Home Improvement Council, National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association and National Remodelers Association.
Home remodeling accounts for 15 billion dollars in sales yearly and every dealer should tune in on the opportunity to take advantage of this national promotion.
All dealers received previous mailings which included a home improvement brochure giving them the op- portunity to order sales aids to help them promote sales during the month of May.
There are many ways the dealer can increase his sales with increased emphasis on home improvement by: regarded as necessities to' our environment.
Be prepared to point out that more and more mills are going to dry log storage to reduce the contamination effects of logs in rivers.
Be prepared to point out that products made from trees or plants have methods.
Be prepared to point out that one large producer of forest products operates on a technique-forestry called "high yield forestry" and has done so since the early 40s. This same company will plant 85 million seedlings on a small portion of their land which is more extensive than that being done by the U. S. Forestry Service.
Lumber and building material dealers have a vital interest in environmental improvement and should know what their industry is doing, not only for their own edification but so that they can communicate this information to the communities in which they conduct their business. Maintaining an adequate source of supply will be dependent upon the condition of the forest.
Do your part to assist in maintaining and improving that condition.
(1) Conducting truck load sales.
(2) Increased advertising through newspaper and radio.
(3) Utilizing sales banners.
(4) Setting up special in-store displays.
(5) Holding sales meetings with employees to acquaint them with the overall home improvement promotion.
Many wholesalers and manufacturers are also cooperating with the program lby special emphasis on their products by inereased advertising and offering specials to dealers during the month of May.
The opportunity is there for every dealer to show a big increase in sales for May if he ties in with this nationwide promotion. We hope you do.
