I read with interest and concern an item in your February, 1982 issue that International Paper Company was still seeking buyers for its Gardiner and Vaughn, Or., and Weed, Ca., mills.

Since announcements on IP's Western Region facilities are disseminated from my office, I can assure you there has been no official announcement of the company's intention to sell its Gardiner, Or., facilities. Gardiner is not for sale. If you have an official announcement to this effect, I would be very interested in seeing it. Further, the publication of such an announcement has caused upset and concern among part of your readership who happen to be employees ofthe company.
