Computer Firms Join Forces

Nearly 100 people from across the U.S. attended a ProfiMaster users conference in Dallas, Tx., Nov. 5-7.

Bringing together representatives of 53 companies, this first conference since 1988 marked the joining of ProfiMaster with Computer Systems Dynamics, Inc., Denver, Co. Representatives of that company were present to talk with users.

Elder Treating Plant UPdate

With the installation of a new computerized pressure treating cylinder, Elder Wood Preserving, Mansura, La, has corrpleted a three phase plant system improvement Program that makes its treating facility one of the most modern in the U.S.

The new Woodtec cylinder installed in October is 6'6" in diameter and 54 fr long. It is capable oftreating 200,000 bd. ft. of lumber during an eight hour shifr

The entire facility is housed in one shed, totally enclosed. A $500,000 investment, the new system includes an EPA-approved drip pad with liner and leak detection system installed last December and a transfer deck installed in January. The deck has two sets of trams so that a second charge can be loaded while the frst is being unloaded. This cuts the time between charges to two or three minutes and speeds the treating process.

"The combined customer base of the rwo organizations, which will exceed over 550 companies and 800 locatrons, will position the fim as one of the largest suppliers of computer systems to this specialized industry nationwide," said Bob Vanzant, CSD president.

ProfiMaster, which was formed in 1982 by a group of lumber dealers belonging to a wholesale buying coop, will remain in its Austin, Tx., headquarters as a separate division of CSD. With approximately 307o of its customer base consisting of multi-location lumber yards, hone centers and hardware store chains, CSD was founded in 1975.

ProfiMaster will be an active Participant in a CSD users conference scheduled for February in Denver.
