New South Sends Lumber To Europe for Homes

Homes built ftom raditional U.S. house plans and framed with southern pine manufactured and sold by New South, Inc., Conway, S.C., are being built in the Czech Republic.

Making "the American Dream" come true for the Czechs is Oncorp America Inc., a Portland, Or., company that is satisfying a demand for quality American style homes built from all-American materials, except electrical components and wiring.

"Czechs appreciate the quality of America's wood frame houses and there's pent-up demand for them,' said OnCorp pres. Greg Opsahl. "We've found it's very oost effective to buy the lumber and all the materials needed here and then ship them. Everything needed for a 2,000 sq. ft. home can be shipped in two 40'foot containers."

"Wood frame houses can be built quickly and are affordable compared to wbat's available in many European nations," said Thomas Mende at New South, Inc., which has been a large lumber exporter for many yers. "Tbe overseas narket holds great prmise for U.S. lumber, home products and building supply industries. We're very interested in promoting the growth of exporting 'the American Dneam'ovets€as."

The lumber was assembled and ship'ped ftom Cbarhson, S.C.
