Mid-America Lumbermens Association has named Dan W. Hdl, CAE, as its new executive v.p. to succeed Bob John, who retired Aug. 16 after l7 years with MLA. Hall, a c.e.o. for tax-free groups since 1976, most recently taught management and marketing courses at the University of Phoenix-Colorado Division.
Following a board meeting, MLA will kick off its Fall Fun Fling Oct. 4-6 at the Thousand Hills Golf Club, Branson, Mo. The schedule includes double golf toumament, fishing tournament, showboat dinner cruise, barbecue and shows.
Louisiana Building Material Dealers Association, working toward a full-scale buying show at its 1998 annual convention in New Orleans, plans a mini-buyirlg show for next year's convention at the Lafayette Hilton. Goals of a buying show are to increase convention attendance, provide dealers with show-only special buys and pricing, and suppliers with an open forum to address dealers.
