Obituaries

William Reeves Pearce. Pearce Lumber, Ruston, La., died luly 22, 1993, in Ruston. He was 71.

Born in Winnfield, La., he joined his father's business in 1945 and with his brother took over in 1953. He sold the business to his son, Jim, in 1986 and remained active part-time as assistant numger.

Southeast NAWLA Meeting

Southeast sector meeting of the North American Wholesale Lumber Association will be Oct. 6-7 at the Wynfrey Hotel, Birmingham, Al.

An update by president Bill Tufs and executive vice president Nick Kent will open the meeting, followed by Boise Cascade timber & wood sales and wholesale building producs distribution division representatives presenting a "Total Quality Management" seminar. Dr. Christopher S. Frings will discuss "Effective Time Management and Other Illusions" after a reception sponsored by the Southern Forest Products Association and dinner.

Planned for the second day are contact sessions, a Southern Pine Advisory Council meeting and luncheon with Roy W. Gilbert Jr., president and chief operating officer, SouthTrust Corp., speaking on "Get Ready for '94."

SP Siding Stars On TV

A Remodeling & Decorating Today episode starring southern pine siding premieres on The Nashville Network (TNN) Oct 16 and 17 with rebroadcast tentatively scheduled for Jan. 15 and 16.

While cameras rolled, more than 6,000 lineal feet of 6" SP siding was installed on a home being remodeled in Knoxville. Tn. Mark Trinka. SFPA regional market mgr., coordinated delivery of the pattern 119 siding, produced at Witt Building Material Co., Knoxville, from C&Btr. grade SP.

The 30-min. program also informs viewers how to reach SFPA for free copies of A Guide to Southern Pine Siding, Exterior Wood in the Soutlt and a list of Southern Pine Marketing Council members producing siding.

SFPA Meeting In San Antonio

The Southem Forest Products Association meeting Oct. 18-21 at the Marriott Rivercenter, San Antonio, Tx., will follow the theme "Best in the Business."

Robert L. Tillman, executive vice president, Lowe's Cos., Inc., North Wilkesboro, N.C., will be a luncheon speaker. Commicee and subcommittee meetings are scheduled.
