Canrcron Ashley Adds Branches

Canenon Ashley Inc., Dallas, Tx., bas initiatod rcquisition of Bird Corp. in an all casb fansaction and broken ground for a new disribution center near Chlcago, Il., for its subsidiary Wm. Canreron & Co.

The proposed acquisition of Bird includes 18 locuions and will plovide the company, which has over 50 branches in t[e SoutbeasL Southwest and MidwesL with initlal entry into New England, New York and Arizona while increasing its presence in Kentucky, Texas and Louisiura Purchase price is expecrcd to be in rhe mid $20 million range with closing near the end ofJuly.

The company also opened four new branches for its Ashley Aluminum subsidiary in San Antonio and Houston, Tx., and GairBsville and Longwood, Fl., bringing the total number of locations o 36.

Oklahoma Treated Contest

Arrowhead Lumber Sales, Oklahoma City, Ok., is sponsoring a deck building contest in conjunction with its dealer customers.

Decks must have been built in 1994 using Sunwood treated lumber and Wolnan deck care products purchased from the retarler supplying the entry form, explained Dusty Hammack, president and owner of Arrowhead. Deadline for entries is Oct 15.

First place winner will receive a cooker-smoker; second place, a tailgate cooker-smoker, and third place, a box of steaks. Every contestant will be given a Sunwood sports bag.

Entry forms have been mailed to Arrowhead's retail customers with additional forms included with each order of Sunwood treated lumber.
