Carolina Builders Buys T. R. Hopson

Carolina Builders Corp., Raleigh, N.C., has acquired Thomas R. Hopson-Broker, Inc., Marietta, Ga.-based manufacturer and distributor of windows, doors and other building materials.

Founded in 1973, Hopson has four branches in the Atlanta area (Marietta, Gwinnett, Fairburn, Forsyth), a recently constructed 200,000+ sq. ft. manufacturing facility in Acworth, Ga., and a distribution center in Charlotte, N.C. Sales last year were $130 million.

"The Hopson acquisition is an extension of our current business activities directed toward the professional contractor," said a Carolina Builders spokesperson, "and allows us to enter one of the largest housing and construction markets in the country." In addition to the Atlanta metro area. other accessible markets include Chattanooga and Knoxville, Tn.; Jacksonville and Tallahassee, Fl., and Birmingham, Al.
