Start Spreading The News...

The newly formed Wood Promotion Network has launched reportedly the first-ever campaign to build awareness of wood as the world's best building product for home improve- ment, remodeling and d-i-y projects.

By mobilizing U.S. and Canadian companies and industry associations, the $45 million "Be Constructivs" three-year campaign hopes to educate consumers and professionals about the attributes of wood and support lumber retailers.

"Wood is the greatest story never told," said Kelly McCloskey, president and ceo of the 120-member-andgrowing WPN. "Wood is the material that literally built North America, from the dream home to the picket fence that surrounds it. We want everyone to know why wood continues to be the preferred building material for builders and homeowners."

The campaign gets into full swing late this month with the introduction of television and print ads touting America' s abundant forest resource.

In its first month, the program generated at least44 TV, 30 radio/internet and 20 print stories (including the Wall Street Journal), translating into over 25 million media impressions.

A Web site, www.beconstructive. com, provides news, information and business support resources for builders and professionals and offers tips and projects for d-i-yers.
