Covering the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
Mississippi Building Material Dealers Association is holding its 60th anniversary convention at the Royal d' Iberville, Biloxi, Ms.. Feb. 13-15.
Wayne Dowdy, fourth district congressman from Mississippi, will be the keynote speaker. More than 75 exhibiton have reserved booths in the trade show which accompanies the convention.
Wesley Rushing, Jones County Building Supply, Laurel, current president, will preside over the business sessions which will include a report from the nominating committee and the election of officers.
Numerous social events are planned in observance of the association's 60th anniversary with many associate members hosting hospitality suites. Louise Rushing, president of the Ladies Auxiliary, will be in charge of a special program for spouses.
Carolina Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association, Kentucky Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association, \{rginia Building Material Association and the Tennessee Building Material Association will be represented on the National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association's executive committee by Carl Tindell, representative for District III.
President of Tindell Builders Supply. Knoxville, Tn., he has been an active member of TBMA for many years. serving as a committee chairman, director, East Tennessee vice president and president. In 1985 he was a national director representing that association on the NLBMDA board of directors.
6-9, included approval of a disability insurance progftrm for members and appointing a feasibility study group for building or buying an association headquarters office. Freeman Spencer, Massey Builders Supply Co., was named chairman of the committee.
Future dates approved by the board include a summer management conference, Aug. 1417, Ramada Oceanside Tower, Virginia Beach; 1987 convention, April l2-15, Greenbrier Hotel. White Sulphur Springs, W.V.; 1988 convention, March 2ul-30, Mariner's Inn, Hilton Head, S.C., and 1989 convention. April 9-12. the Homestead, Hot Springs. Va.
"Opening Doors To Opportunity" has been announced as the theme of the 1986 convention.
Building Material Merchants' Association of Georgia and Alabama has announced the availability of a new colrespondence course developed especially for retail building materials stores, home centers and lumber yards.
Vrginia Building Material Association board of directors met at the Pinehurst Hotel. Pinehurst. N.C.,to approve the 1986 budget as well as a five year plan submitted by the executive director.
