Graffiti incident at Groby BMX track GROBY PARISH COUNCIL has informed the Spotlight that a graffiti attack occurred at the Groby BMX track and play area on 1st October. The incident was immediately reported to the Police and, by the time you read this, the paint will have been cleaned off. If you know anything about this, please notify the Police on 0116 222 2222.

Girls win their league!

Our Autumn production, Laying the Ghost’ by Simon Williams, is set in a retirement home for old actors. It is Margot’s 70th birthday, and she is visited by her ex-husband, his present wife and his lover! Scenes of hilarity and chaos ensue, and it all makes for a very entertaining evening. Be aware, the play does contain some strong language. Performances take place on the 8th/9th /10th November at 7.30pm in theVillage Hall, Groby Tickets priced £6.00 can be obtained by calling 0116 287 7373 or tel/text to 07790 861033. Watercolour painting class in Groby There are still a few spaces left in the watercolour painting classes at Groby Village Hall. Artist Mark Wilde is running Watercolour Painting for Beginners on Friday mornings. This class is aimed at complete beginners, or those who want to brush up on their basic skills, and includes step by step demonstrations and one to one tuition. His Watercolours Intermediate classes also have spaces left and are aimed at those who have learned the basic skills but need to move on to a more advanced level. Art in Ratby For all you artists, how about the ‘ART IN RATBY’ art exhibition & Craft Fair, Church Rooms, Church Lane, Ratby. Sat 3rd November - 10.00am to 3.00pm and Sun 4th November 10.00am to 2.00pm.

To round off a very successful 2011/12 football season Martinshaw Girls football team led by coach, Teaching Assistant Mr Andy Bennett, were presented with the HABSSA trophy after winning the Hinckley and Bosworth Girls Football League. The trophy was added to the already bulging cabinet after the boys team won their own Hinckley and Bosworth league and the National NPower trophy after their trip to Wembley. Both teams are now in training hoping for an equally successful 2012/13 season.
