CHARITY CAKE SALE AT MARTINSHAW

Exciting Times at Groby Library A look back at 2015 and forward to 2016

BOTH OF US have elderly relatives who suffer with the terrible illness called Dementia. So we both thought that we would do something to raise some money towards the support of people who suffer with it and also Cancer. We decided that we would do something that everyone could enjoy, so we got permission from out Headteacher Mr Elsom to hold a cake sale in school. We made posters and advertised the sale all over the school and with a little bit of help from our Mums we baked a great pile of cakes. We managed to sell every cake and raised ÂŁ100 Because we did so well we also sent some money to LOROS. We would like to thank everyone who bought a cake and especially we would like to thank Mr Elsom and our teachers, Mrs Ringland, Mrs Flude and Mrs Robinson for letting us do it. Also our Mums for helping us.

THE GROBY Community Library Group would like to thank everyone who supported the Christmas Fair and Mystery Trail on Saturday 5th December. It proved to be a magical occasion and would not have been a success without the help of local businesses, groups and individuals. We would like to thank the Co-op Laundon Way, Stamford Arms, Cathy Stephens, Studio J, Groby Chinese, Knaggs photography, Flint and local individuals for donating the raffle prizes. Thanks to Co-op Leicester Road for donating refreshments, Hyphen Marketing for producing the banner, the United Reformed Church for providing tables, chairs, urn and mugs, Fran Wilson for crockery and the Groby Tasters team for serving the refreshments. The mystery trail would not have been a success without the help of local groups and individuals who created wonderful sights on the trail. Thank you to Toddlers Nursery who helped turn their front window into a magical scene in Frozen complete with Elsa and Anna dancing, Groby Meadow for their enchanted Christmas theme meadow, the Stamford Arms for roasted Chestnuts at the Pirate Ship, Louise Corke and the Advent Window displays at the Old Hall and the Nottingham Building Society, and the Christmas Tree Festival at St Philip and St James. We would also like to thank the Library Knitting Group and the Community Library Group Craft Workshop volunteers who made the wonderful selection of cards, Christmas decorations and knitted gifts on the Christmas Fair Craft table and the local bakers who donated cakes for the festive food stall and refreshments table.
