MID-DECEMBER 2018
Recycled Teenagers’ Party in Stanton ON SATURDAY 1st December, the QGJ committee held its annual Christmas party for those over 65 in Stanton under Bardon. It was our 17th year for the party and all those able to attended seemed to have a good time. We enjoyed a sherry on arrival, music and a sing song, bingo, a bite to eat, tombola and a raffle. Santa even paid us a visit and everyone received a little gift. I would like to thank our group - the QGJ (Queen’s Golden Jubilee) Committee - especially with the fund raising done in May to allow this party to go ahead. Thanks also go to those who came to help at the party - it helped us a lot - and to Stanton Stores and The Thatch for all their support and donations. Happy New Year to everyone.

Your Village Needs You!
HOW WOULD you like a ten storey TOWER BLOCK to be constructed at a convenient site in the centre of Bagworth? Or how about a WIND FARM overlooking the reservoir on the outskirts of Thornton? Or 120 NEW HOUSES on a site on the edge of Stantonunder-Bardon? No? You wouldn’t? What a surprise! But it could happen! Now is your chance to have a say in how your village develops over the next twenty-five years. Only a well-constructed and viable Neighbourhood Plan can help us control the way in which development in our designated area takes place. When our draft Neighbourhood Plan reaches the Planning Examiner at the last stage of the project we need to be able to show that it reflects the opinions and views of many of our parishioners regarding the following major planning areas:• • •

We would like to invite you to the launch of our Theme Groups on Saturday 16th February 2019 at 10.00 at Stanton-under-Bardon Village Hall. The meeting will last no longer than two hours. PLEASE NOTE THIS MEETING IS FOR RESIDENTS OF ALL THREE VILLAGES – WE DO NOT HAVE THE RESOURCES TO RUN A SIMILAR MEETING IN EACH VILLAGE COMMUNITY CENTRE! You don’t need to book and the event is free. You will be invited to join the Theme Group of your choice; all we ask for is your views and opinions on the relevant subject. PLEASE DON’T LEAVE IT TO SOMEONE ELSE. Your lack of interest now will change rapidly if any unwanted development is threatened in your village. BY THEN IT WILL BE TOO LATE! Only an effective, well constructed and appropriate neighbourhood plan can assist your parish council to fight against inappropriate development. We cannot create such a plan without your input! Parish councils have never previously had a say in planning matters. Now at last, with your help we can! ACT NOW – BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE! For further information, or if you have any questions about Neighbourhood Planning, please contact me on 01530 243631 or email: ibriggs.sub@gmail.com
