Anstey GALA DAY... 1940’s style! The Anstey Gala Day celebration takes place on Saturday 18th September 2010 from 12 noon Recreation Ground, Stadon Road, Anstey.
Anstey will be celebrating the end of World War 2 with the ‘Tommy Atkins’ army re-enactment group, and the Ratby Mid Band. Refreshments will be available in the Jubilee Hall and there will be a range of stalls on the field, plus • Dog display team and Dog show • ‘Freddie the Magician’ for the children • And local dance groups too!
OLD ANSTEY PHOTOGRAPHS WANTED! If anyone has any photos of Anstey people during the war years, or newspaper cuttings about our area, we would love to take a copy to add to those being displayed on Gala day. (If you have tiny snaps, we may be able to double them in size on a computer and provide you with an enlarged copy too). Please contact Anne on 2363977 or Kath on 2121309 for any enquiries, or look out for committee members selling raffle tickets on a Saturday morning.

But before the Gala, there’s the
Annual Memorial Ideas for living Football Match & and giving… Fun Day: 29th Aug Homeware for your Anstey Crown Football Club is holding its annual STEVE KNIGHT Memorial Grand Charity Football Match and Fun Day on Sunday 29th August 2010 at the Anstey Nomads Football Ground, Cropston Road Anstey, starting at 12 noon.
The day will consist of a youth football tournament followed by various attractions including, BBQ, FOOD STALLS, ICE CREAMS, BRIC a BRAC, SWEET STALL, TOMBOLA, FACE PAINTING, RAFFLE, BOUNCY CASTLES, BUCKING BRONCO and LICENSED BAR etc. Additional stall space is available for anyone interested in supporting the event (please see contact details below). Raffle prizes have been generously donated by shops and businesses throughout the Anstey Village area and any further donations will be gratefully received. Last year’s event raised over £3,000 for the Wish upon a Star children’s charity and The Youth Sports Trust and it is hoped that this year’s event will be bigger and better. Leicester City have again been approached to send personalities on the day to give out awards, draw the raffle and sign autographs. The main football game of the day will include players both past and present from the Anstey Crown FC and friends of Steve Knight, the evening will conclude with a grand charity auction for which any donation would be most welcome. The evening will conclude with a late bar and disco.
