WELCOME
N
ine years ago, the Plainfield Enterprise hosted the area’s first prep All-Star game for area high school seniors. That game featured only Plainfield schools, the coverage area of The Enterprise. With The Enterprise now being part of Voyager Media Publications, the coverage area has expanded to 15 communities in 4 counties. Between The Enterprise, The Sentinel and The Bugle newspapers, the game this year will feature some of the best senior athletes from Joliet Central, Joliet West, Bolingbrook, Romeoville, Downers Grove North, Downers Grove South, Westmont, Niles West, Maine East, Notre Dame,

JEREMY IZZO In October 2010, the Bugle-area basketball community suffered a loss with the unexpected death of Joliet Catholic Academy boys basketball coach Jeremy Izzo. A history teacher at JCA, Izzo, 29, was a rookie basketball coach and had the desire and plan to put Hilltopper basketball back on top. Izzo was known to not only be a passionate coach, but a passionate educator as well. Izzo was a 1999 graduate of Nazareth Academy and 2004 graduate of Illinois, where he was the Illini basketball team’s student manager for four years and was a graduate assistant and video coordinator under Lon Kruger, Bill Self and Bruce Weber. The Jeremy Izzo Character Award will be presented annually to a senior basketball player, male or female, that is invited to the Prep Shootout. While only the most talented players in the Voyager Media coverage area are invited to the game, the award is not based on talent on the court. It will be given each year to a player who displays the class, character and sportsmanship that Coach Izzo displayed himself and expected from his players.
