It was a cool and crisp Saturday night as hundreds of folks dropped into Cene’s Four Season Park to celebrate a fall favorite. Oktoberfest returned to Shorewood on Sept. 29. The annual Bavarian-style festival first kicked off in 1976 in
the village. While the festival was cancelled after a few years, it was eventually brought back by popular demand in 2013. The event featured German food and drink, a beer garden, polka music, a Masskrugstemmen contest, and raffle and door prizes.
Entertaining the crowd in the afternoon was Chicago-based German brass band Ed Wagner’s Lustige Blaskapelle, followed in the evening by the Lounge Puppets. The event was sponsored by the village and Christopher B. Burke Engineering.
