Chapman to run for 97th District seat By Stewart Warren For the Bugle
Longtime Shorewood Mayor Rick Chapman is running for a seat in the Illinois General Assembly. He is vying for the Republican nomination to succeed state Rep. Tom Cross, R-Oswego, in the 97th
District, an area including all of Plainfield and Shorewood, most of Oswego and a section of Naperville. Chapman announced the news Friday to his Village Hall staff. “I have been thinking about this for some time,” Chapman said on Saturday. “I think I am needed in that seat.”

Cross announced in August that he would not seek next year another term in the House and instead would run for state treasurer. So Chapman, 67, and his wife, Shirley, were up early Saturday to get the campaign rolling.The mayor visited area businesses and asked
