The village of Shorewood recognized the achievements of Troy Middle School crosscountry teams during last week’s village board meeting. In a resolution read by Mayor Rick Chapman at the Oct. 27 meeting, he said the crosscountry teams “have once again represented their communities with pride, showing teamwork
and good sportsmanship in all events.” The boys team had members Jason Hoffman, Marcus Porchia, Julian Rosenbach, Hunter Phillips, Zach Bickerton, Jake Kurowski and George Limacher finish first in sectionals and 12th in the Illinois State Tournament. The girls team had members Joslyn Prosek, Yesenia Suarez, Taylor Durak, Ashley Lang, Hannah Konieczny, Katie Gibson and Marley Nicoletti finish third in sectionals and 13th in the
Illinois State Tournament. Both teams are coached by John Davis, Nadine Bonnamy, Nicole Koenig and Brittany Lys. The resolution honored the coaches for teaching not only “good running skills, but also good sportsmanship, team concepts, and citizenship.” “I think you were outstanding,” said Chapman, who attended the tournament in Normal, Illinois, to cheer for the teams. The resolution was issued by the village, as well as the mayor and Joliet City Council.
