The village is gearing up for one of the largest summer festivals in the Will County area with preparations for RomeoFest. The four-day long celebration will run from Thursday Aug. 3 through Sunday, Aug. 6 with a host of activity including music, food, family entertainment, carnival, car show, bingo, and more. The event stretches through Deer Crossing Park (1050 W. Romeo Road) and Village Park (900 W. Romeo Road). New this year, kicking off the event is the Food Fest 1-mile race. Will you run for food? Beginning at 5:30 p.m., just before RomeoFest begins, racers will walk/run one mile while a DJ Dance party plays hits on the Toyota Mainstage. Start and finish in front of the stage, enjoy three food samples, a free t-shirt, a beverage of your choice and a finisher award. $20 for adults 21 and older; $15 for those 20 and under. Race day pricing increases by $5. Crowd favorite, 7th Heaven will then perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3 after the race. For a full list of activities, check out http://www. romeoville.org/documentcenter/view/2889. Romeo Road during normal business hours. Passes will be available at the carnival for $50; cash only.
