Construction to begin for Checkers restaurant on Rt. 53 Site will be 4th in area for burger chain; June open expected

After the razing of the former Lazer Car Wash at the site of Route 53 and Phelps Avenue last summer, a new Checkers restaurant is now set to begin construction.

The Romeoville village board approved the final plans for the 1,000 square-foot restaurant. The building will consist of a single drive-through lane and a limited outdoor patio. There is no indoor seating. The building will reflect Checkers retro branding, featuring a metallic winged roof and checkerboard tile exterior.

Checkers & Rally’s Director of Franchise Development Bruce Kim said as the company wanted to expand throughout the Metro Chicagoland area, it selected sites

that met both its development criteria and franchisees’ preference of geography. Currently there are three Checkers located in the area, one in Bolingbrook and two in Joliet.

“The Romeoville/Plainfield area met both requirements – the local populace is value-conscious, ethnically diverse, and have been requesting a Checkers to come closer to their towns for quite awhile now.”

The site plan for the restaurant shows one full access driveway off Phelps Avenue and an existing limited access driveway along Route 53 that is proposed to remain with no change. The drive-through lane will allow for a total of nine cars to be stacked. A letter from Checker’s indicates that five-car stacking is the basic standard for its drivethrough restaurants. A bypass lane is provided along the drivethrough lane and a total of seven parking spaces are provided.

The restaurant will be located between Jiffy Lube and Nicks Barbecue and is slated to open by the end of June.

METRO >> BOLINGBROOK

Bolingbrook man charged with 7th DUI DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin announced April 18 that aggravated driving under the influence charges were filed against a Bolingbrook man accused of his seventh DUI. Hilario Nevarez, 48, appeared in Bond Court this morning where Judge George Bakalis set bond in the amount of $75,000.

It is alleged that on April 17, at approximately 11:48 p.m., a Naperville police officer conducted a traffic stop against Nevarez for speeding and improper lane usage while driving on Route 59. It is alleged that while Nevarez was driving his vehicle, his blood alcohol content was 0.08 or more.

It is further alleged that Nevarez was operating his vehicle at a time when his driver’s license was suspended or revoked.

“It is alleged that time and time

again, Mr. Nevarez thumbed his nose at the law and continued to drive after he had been drinking,” Berlin said. “He continued to get behind the wheel not only after his first or second DUI, but even after his sixth, as alleged in this case. Every year thousands of lives are needlessly lost to DUI related crashes. Thankfully, no one was injured as a result of Mr. Nevarez’s alleged irresponsible, reckless behavior. I would like to thank the Naperville Police Department for their continued efforts in keeping suspected drunk drivers off our streets. I would also like to thank Assistant State’s Attorney Kristin Johnston for her efforts in securing charges against Mr. Nevarez.”

Nevarez’s next court appearance is scheduled for May 17 in front of Judge Bakalis. The Aggravated Driving Under the Influence charge against Nevarez is a Class X Felony, punishable by up to six to 30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Romeoville passes balanced, no frills budget Streets, water and sewer projects top list of expenditures

The village of Romeoville passed a balanced budget for its fiscal year beginning May 1, reflecting a slight decrease from last year.

With less grant-funded large projects such as the Metra station and construction of Discovery Park, the budget, just under $103 million; approximately $6.8 million down from last year.

The village will dedicate $12.2 million in capital projects; the

largest being street resurfacing and water and sewer projects.

Other highlights include the continuation of decorating street lighting in Hampton Park; renovation of Budler Park and a possible TIF land purchase.

Salaries and benefits take up the lion share of the budget at percent, also affording this year the addition of one new police officer. However, salaries were only increased by 1 percent.

Though the village portion of a homeowners tax bill is only 13 percent, the village’s amount in

property taxes will decrease by 1 percent.

“The cost to homeowners is very stable,” said Kirk Openchowski, finance director. “There has been minimal change since 2008 in a typical tax bill.”

“If we kept in pace with inflation, bills would be $100 more,” said Noak. “ At the end of day the total amount being spent is going down and the way we have controlled our levey amount means that in terms of the amount per home over a ten year period we have kept that stable..and that is because of what are staff are able to do with the budget and am very proud of staff for making that hap-

Bolingbrook sets county standard on tobacco ordinance Board of Health encouraging other Will County municipalities to follow suit

Following Bolingbrook’s lead, the Will County Board of Health is calling for more municipalities to pass a Tobacco 21 ordinance.

In what is becoming a nationwide movement, Bolingbrook took steps to raise the age from 18 to 21 to buy smoking materials, effective April 1.

Tobacco 21 calls for regulations banning the purchase of cigarettes, cigars, chewing tobacco, e-cigarettes, or vaping devices by anyone under 21.

Evidence indicates that the move will make a significant impact in lowering the number of people who go on to become lifelong smokers.

Bolingbrook joins the likes of Chicago and Naperville who have passed similar resolutions as well as nearly 300 municipalities and a total of five states, (California, New Jersey, Oregon, Hawaii and Maine), who have raised the minimum sale age for tobacco products to 21.

Since Bolingbrook’s action, Gurnee and Aurora support the ordinance.

However, Bolingbrook is the only Will County community to have passed it and the Will County board is working to change that.

When passing the ordinance, Bolingbrook Mayor Roger Claar had pointed to several pieces of evidence indicating the benefits of the move; cutting teen smoking in half, reducing health care costs that are now at $5.5 billion nationwide, putting a tax burden of $922 per household.

According to the national campaign for tobacco-free kids, “national data show that about 95 percent of adult smokers begin smoking before they turn 21, and a substantial number of smokers start even younger.”

The Board of Health is hoping their resolution will spur other

home rule communities within the county to consider this action.

Home rule communities are those that either have 25-thousand residents, or have passed a “home rule referendum,” thereby giving city legislators more power to create their own laws.

“I am very thankful for our Board’s support on this initiative,” said Will County Health Department Executive Director Sue Olenek. “This is a very positive step in the right director for our youth.”

Will County’s Community Health Educators want it known that the Health Department’s “Tobacco Control and Prevention Program” is available to offer technical assistance to municipalities.

“We have tool kits with resources, sample ordinances, infographics, and other valuable information to assist Will County communities,” the Health Department’s Cindy Jackson stated.

“Ninety percent of smokers start before age 21. The more we change the age of tobacco purchasing to 21, the less youth will start to smoke.”

Village wide revenues remain the same despite the economic downturn in retail, notably the $1 million lost in sales revenue. Noak said the village’s diverse portfolio allows the village to remain strong.

According to the village, its healthy fund balance has contrib-

uted to the village’s strong bond rating. The general fund, for the current fiscal year ending April 30th, is estimated to produce more than $1 million in surplus.

The general fund is estimated to have a year end fund balance of $25.3 million, which is a 130 percent increase from 2008.

“Our department managers have put together another solid budget that keeps Romeoville moving ahead while being fiscally responsible,” said Noak.

Romeoville operates on a May 1- April 30 budget year. The new budget will be effective May 1, 2018.

Illinois rivers helped feed economic growth in state Illinois, Mississippi Rivers serving as economic engines for transportation of goods continues

BY JOSEPH BUSTOS OF THE BELLEVILLE NEWSDEMOCRAT During the first century of the state’s history, the natural habitats along the Illinois River helped spur fishing industries and had places for hunting.

The Illinois River was a habitat for bottom-feeding fish such as catfish, common carp and smallmouth buffalo as well as mussels.

The abundance of fish led to a commercial fishing industry between Havana and Meredosia, according to the state museum.

Towns had their own markets that processed and shipped fish to large Midwestern and Eastern cities from the 1890s to the 1950s.

Sport hunters formed clubs and bought land along the Illinois River to start duck hunting resorts managed by locals, according to the state museum.

However, there also was a demand to be able to transport goods, which changed life along the river.

Reports in the 1830s said the river wasn’t navigable in 70 to 80 places during the low-water months. A canal was eventually built between LaSalle and Chicago.

“The canal was instrumental in Chicago’s growth,” said Michael Wiant, the interim director for the Illinois State Museum. “There’s a recognition there, navigability on the river would give vitality to the economy of Illinois.”

Towns along the Illinois River, such as Naples, Grafton, Peoria and Beardstown, are the earliest communities in the region to be established. Ottawa had deposits of silica sand, that would be transported into Chicago for construction.

“You could begin to see the river as an artery that literally feeds the heart of the city,” Wiant said.

Levees eventually were built along waterways to keep the river in place, and maintain a channel.

That infrastructure decision also eventually drained floodplains and backwater habitats, which led to those areas becoming land for row-crop agriculture.

“The river is largely, by the early part of the 20th century, engineered to handle that transportation issue that is having vitality,” Wiant said. “But it comes at a price of not only the natural powerhouse of the backwater lakes, things like commercial fishing industries are affected negatively.

It changes the character of the river profoundly.”

Natural habitats for ducks, fish and mussels were negatively affected and populations crashed, Wiant said. Eventually there were wildlife refuges established to give habitat to ducks to try to keep those population.

“To maintain navigation, you need stable water levels. To get stable water levels you need locks and dams. To keep the channel in place you need levees,” Wiant said. “Levees then cut off the backwater lakes from the natural hydrology of the river, and while you’re producing agricultural commodities, which are good things to be sure, the price you’re paying, the natural habitats are deteriorated.”

Using the Illinois River, as well as the Mississippi River, as economic engines for the transportation of goods continues today.

In recent years, there has been an effort to increase the amount of commodities and goods that are moved down the Illinois and Mississippi rivers.

America’s Central Port has been awarded a $713,000 federal grant to help load containers on the Illinois River at Beardstown.

The containers would be sent to Chicago to be loaded onto trains, or to St. Louis where containers would be placed on trains, or continue down the Mississippi River on barges to New Orleans. The project is still in the planning stages.

Barges are loaded and then sent down the river and eventually connected to the Mississippi River where they head toward the Gulf of Mexico where they are then shipped around the world to places such as Europe and Japan.

They do an incredible amount of transportation of grain from that point.”

According to the Mississippi River Cities and Towns Initiative, nearly $5 billion in annual revenue and 20,000 jobs are generated by commercial navigation on the Mississippi River.

In 2015, 35 million tons of goods moved on the Mississippi River through the St. Louis area, according to data provided by the St. Louis Regional Freightway, which is a freight district and comprehensive authority for freight operations and opportunities within eight counties that compose the St. Louis metropolitan area.

“It’s a combination that adds up to the St. Louis region having inexpensive barge freight rates for the handling of fertilizer, steel, manufactured goods, coal, petroleum products and agricultural commodities,” said Mary Lamie, executive director of the freightway.

The St. Louis area, and the freightway district, has touted how one-third of all the river freight traffic from Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Cairo, Illinois, goes through the St. Louis region.

The St. Louis Regional Freightway is promoting the Mississippi River between Illinois and Missouri as the “Ag Coast.” Ports in the St. Louis area are the northernmost ice-free and lockfree access ports to and from the Gulf of Mexico.

When a team loses four of its top players to graduation, it is not an easy task to replace the lost talent.

Not only is Romeoville and coach Phil Wicyk trying to do just that, they are trying to do it with little practice time thanks to Mother Nature and what time they have outdoors is not in ideal temperatures for concentration.

“It has been a learning experience. Last year we graduated four senior starters, so trying to fill those spots has been a challenge. The element of the cold is just another mental game they have to overcome,” Wicyk said.

“I am telling them to play soccer, learn new positions – we are already kind of young – my two forwards are both sophomores.

I am telling them to take over where the seniors left off and by the way, its freezing out there,

so deal with that and learn the game too. So, yeah, the cold hinders us in practice sometime.”

The Spartans have got solid play out of several players – including a trio of ninth graders.

“We have a few freshmen that have played big numbers with Adamari Carrera and twins Yamilet and Jennifer Perez,” Wicyk said.

On top of the freshmen, there are upperclassmen who are also contributing to the Spartans (59-0).

“Jenny Rodriguez has been good winning the ball in the air and 50/50 balls,” Wicyk said.

“Kalie Rice at center mid is starting to shoot and score some goals. She started off on the defense but has moved up to center mid.

“As always, our senior goalie Macayla Dwyer is the rock in the back for us.”

Wicyk said there is a tandem of players that has stepped up all season for the Spartans.

“Two players have been stepping up big time the whole season, not just since PepsiCo,” he said. “Kalie Rice. She is our overall rock in the central part of our offensive. She does it all, wins 50/50s, our leading goal scorer (4 goals), helps hold possession and is one of our best defenders and sophomore forward Valeria Valles is just a workhorse up top. She is constantly moving looking for the ball. She is one of our forwards who creates the

most offensive chances. For her size, she plays three times times that. She holds the ball well and distributes it to where the ball needs to be to create scoring chances.”

Sophomore Azucena Gomez is behind Rice with three goals.

With the playoffs nearing, Romeoville looks to be ready for the second season.

“Heading into the last three weeks of the season, we are finally starting to believe we can pass and possess the ball, however, our ability to create scoring chances is what is hurting us,” Wicyk said. “We have been working on this aspect of the game for a couple of weeks now and have seen some improvements, but we still have plenty we can improve on.”

Flyer men take first at Cougar Invite Lewis University men’s track and field had a first place finish at the Cougar Invitational earning 146 as a team.

In the 100 meter dash Devin Ingram (Minooka, Ill./Minooka) placed second with a final of 10.94. Malik Saunders (Chicago, Ill./Brother Rice) came in eighth with 11.35.

Ingram took first in the 200 meter dash with 21.93. Stephan Reynolds (Sacramento, Calif./ Jesuit HS) came in third with 22.20.

Chris Wilson (Shorewood, Ill./Minooka) placed first in the 400 meter run with 50.56, John Partee (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield South) took third with 51.03, and Jibreel Brown (Orland Hills, Ill./Carl Sandburg HS) came in fourth with 51.59 Connor Ritzi (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) came in fifth in the 800 meter run with a final of 2:00.60.

In the 1500 meter run Partee placed first winning in 4:05.70.

Taking fourth was Jackson Waters (New Lenox, Ill./LincolnWay Central) who finished in 4:07.78. Placing sixth was Ross McCormick (Seneca, Ill./Seneca) who crossed the finish in 4:09.60.

Jacob Timmons (South Bend, Ind./John Adams) took third in the 5000 meter run with 16:18.45. Coming in seventh was Peter Freeman (Macob, MI/Lutheran High School), finishing in 16:56.27.

Brock Robertsen (Elburn, Ill./ Kaneland) won the 400 meter hurdles when he finished in 56.85.

Making up the 4x100 meter relay team was Saunders, Ingram, Reynolds, and Darryl McFadden (Matteson, Ill./Rich South), placing first in 42.40.

In the high jump Michael Lyons (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield Central HS) came in first with a 1.90 meter leap over the bar.

Mervyn John ( Jefferson City, Mo./Jefferson City) had the top performance in the long jump with a 6.68 meter leap, enough for second place. Lyons placed seventh with 6.16 meters on his jump.

In the triple jump John recorded a 13.66 meter leap placing second and Malik Carson

( Joliet, Ill./Joliet Central) came in sixth with 12.79 meters.

Kyle Thornton rounded out the Lewis effort after finishing first in the shot put with a 13.76 meter throw and the discus with a 41.26 meter throw.

• Lewis University women’s track and field placed second in the Cougar Invitational with 120 points.

In the 100 meter dash Carrie Johnson (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake HS) took fourth place with 12.97.

Johnson would then take fourth in the 200 meter dash with 26.57. Vivica Philips placed seventh with 27.45 and Azana Clark-Jordan (Plano, Ill./ Whitney Young HS) finished eighth with the same time.

Finishing third in the 400 meter run was Philips with 1:00.55, Clark-Jordan finished sixth with 1:03.48 For the 800 meter run Jenna Weidacher (Woodridge, IL/ Montini Catholic) finished second with 2:23.13. Aurora Breeden (Carterville, Ill./Carterville) took fourth in the event with 2:25.76.

In the 1500 meter run three Flyer athletes scored. Gaby Sanchez placed second in 4:58.58, Kassady Learn (San Diego, CA/Rancho Bernardo) took fifth with 5:10.52, and Kaley McLawhorn (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) placed sixth with 5:12.42.

Taking third in the 110 meter hurdles was Abbey Galusha (Williamsville, Ill./Williamsville, HS) who finished in 17.00. She also finished second in the 400 meter hurdles with 1:08.62.

Jaime Poppen had the only first place finish after she got over the bar set at 3.03 in the pole vault.

Finishing third in the long jump was Keanu Taylor (Bourbonnais, Ill./ Bradley-Bourbonnais) who had a mark of 4.81 meters. Mercedes Porter (Rantoul, Ill./Rantoul) came in sixth with a 4.51 meter leap.

Taylor placed third in the triple jump with 10.30 meters on her jump. Leah Buhr (Tolono, Ill./Unity High School) took fourth in the event with 9.88 meters.

In the shot put Kylie Wymer (Rock Island, Ill./Rock Island) came in third with a 12.63 meter toss, and Ariyana Crittenden finished eighth with 10.49.

Wymer threw 34.53 meters in the discus to place seventh.

To wrap up the meet Natalie Hatalla (Manteno, Ill./Manteno) finished second in the javelin with 34.7 meters. Poppen finished fourth with a toss of 32.15 meters, and Galusha placed fifth with 31.91 meters on her throw.

SOFTBALL GAME 1 – QUINCY 9, LEWIS 8 The Lewis Flyer softball team dropped both games of its doubleheader at Quincy on Sunday afternoon at the Mart Heinen Complex in Quincy, Ill. The Flyers (18-24, 7-17 GLVC) dropped the opener 9-8 and the nightcap 4-2. Lewis trailed 4-0 after four innings in the opener giving up a pair of runs in the second and fourth innings. The Flyers rallied in the fifth sending nine batters to the plate scoring six times on four hits.

Kaylee Prieto (Chicago, Ill./ Marist) tied the game with a grand slam then two batters later Cierra Taylor (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) hit a two-run homer to put Lewis in front 6-4.

The Flyers added to their lead with two more runs in the sixth on a RBI double from Lauren Brennan (Cantonment, Fla./ J.M. Tate) and a RBI single from Prieto. The Hawks (21-23, 9-15 GLVC) responded with three runs in their half of the sixth highlighted by a two-run double off the bat of Raigen Schwartz.

Quincy won the game in its final at-bat on a two-run walkoff homer off the bat of Remi Ferguson.

Lewis had eight hits in the opener led by Prieto and Taylor with two hits each. Brennan, Dara Sanders (Crestwood, Ill./Mother McAuley), Morgan Weber (Sugar Grove, Ill./ Kaneland) and Sarah DeMasi (Lockport, Ill./Lockport) had a hit each.

Sanders pitched the first six innings allowing seven runs, five earned, on 10 hits with a pair of strikeouts. Cassie Shaw (Moline, Ill./Moline) took the loss allow-

ing two runs on two hits in 0.1 inning of work.

GAME 2 – QUINCY 4, LEWIS 2 The Hawks scored first in the nightcap with a run in the third inning. With two outs in the inning, Katelyn Gratza tripled to right center and scored on Schwartz’s single to left. Quincy added to its lead with three runs in the fourth. Megan Sharpshair led off the inning with a home run then Ferguson and Kylie Powers followed with back-toback doubles. Gratza drove in the third run of the inning with a two-out double.

The Flyers were held to just one hit through six innings before breaking through in the seventh. Cori Reynolds (Lansing, Ill./TF South) reached on an error by the third baseman to lead off the inning.

With two outs, Brennan hit her a second home run of the season to cut the lead in half.

Kendyl Strack (Genoa, Ill./Genoa-Kingston) followed with a single to center to bring the tying run to the plate, but Alise Perna (Naperville, Ill./Metea Valley) struck out swinging to end the game.

Weber, Brennan and Strack each had hits in the contest.

Taylor Boelte (Rockton, Ill./ Hononegah) got the start in game two allowing four runs on six hits in four innings pitched.

BASEBALL A thrilling comeback in the second game of a doubleheader highlighted the afternoon for the Lewis baseball team as it earned a split with No. 25 Bellarmine Sunday (April 22) at Brennan Field on Senior Day. After losing 7-0 in the first game, the Flyers rallied from an 8-0 deficit to win the second game 12-9.

The Flyers finish the weekend with a 16-22-1 record overall, 8-11 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while the Knights move to 33-12 overall, 15-5 in the GLVC. Next up for the Flyers is their final scheduled home game of the year against St. Francis at 3 p.m. Thursday (April 26).

GAME ONE – BELLARMINE 7,

LEWIS 0 The Knights scored twice in the second, sixth and seventh innings, while keeping the Flyers at bay. Connor Rutherford (DePere, Wis./DePere) tallied a triple in the contest. Hunter Spencer (5-1) picked up the win for Bellarmine, while Pete Hamot (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South) (4-3) took the loss.

GAME TWO – LEWIS 12, BELLARMINE 9 An eight-run top of the second inning put the Knights in control early, but the Flyer bats would catch fire. They scored twice in the bottom of the second inning on a RBI groundout from Sam Cybulski (Clarendon Hills, Ill./Lyons Township) and a base hit by Ethan Bloom (Schaumburg, Ill./ Hoffman Estates). They would then add four more runs in the fourth inning. Cybulski singled home a run and Neal Tyrell (Minooka, Ill./Minooka) walked with the bases loaded. Rutherford then drove home two runs with a single to make it 8-6.

Lewis took its first lead in the bottom of the sixth as it plated four more runs. A Tyrell triple scored two runs and Trayvon Johnson (Berkeley, Ill./St. Joseph’s) doubled home a run to give the Flyers the lead. Anthony Cavalieri (Western Springs, Ill./ Fenwick) singled home another run to make it 10-8. Bellarmine got a run back in the seventh, but Lewis added two more runs in the eighth. Brandon Post (Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove) singled home Cavalieri and Kyle Kane (Westchester, Ill./Nazareth) singled in Post. Jake Lotz (Palos Hills, Ill./St. Laurence) and Dalton Hottle (Monmouth, Ill./ Monmouth-Roseville) combined to close out the game in the ninth inning, with Hottle picking up his first save.

The Flyers belted out 15 hits in the contest, led by three from Cavalieri. Tyrell (3 RBI), Post and Bloom all had two hits. Brady Kostecki (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic) (1-4) earned the win, pitching three innings in relief, allowing three hits and one earned run, striking out two batters. Anthony Etherington (4-1) took the loss for the Knights.

Ladies sixth at UIS Spring Invite The Lewis University women’s golf team placed sixth out of nine teams at the UIS Spring Invite Sunday (April 22) at Panther Creek Country Club.

(+37) and 311 (+23) for a 636 (+60) two-day total. Findlay won the tournament with a 581 (+5) after shooting a 287 (-1) final round, while Missouri – St. Louis placed second with a 600 (+24) and Wit-

tenberg was third with a 615 (+39).

Leading the Flyers was Kasey Kane (Texarkana, Tex./Texas), who shots rounds of 77 and 78 for a 155 (+11) total, good for a tie for 19th place overall.

Don’t take on more debt to fulfill promise It’s difficult to be generous when you’re broke DEAR DAVE, My husband and I are just starting Baby Step 1 of your plan. Prior to this, we told my two nephews we would buy them laptop computers for college. They don’t get a lot of encouragement or support from their immediate family, so we try to help them when we can. Should we go ahead and honor this commitment, postpone getting our starter emergency fund in place, and possibly take on a little more debt, or bow out of the agreement?

LISA DEAR LISA, Well, it’s difficult to be generous when you’re broke. You don’t even have $1,000 to your names, and you’re going to buy two laptops? I don’t know how much debt you have, or what your household income is, but I do know neither of you have managed your money very well in the past.

If you make $50,000 a year, and you have $70,000 in debt, you should sincerely and apologetically bow out. Explain that you made a big mistake, and just be honest about why you can’t provide the laptops. If you make $200,000 a year, but you’ve just been incredibly silly and lazy with your money, you should buy the laptops and then get serious about growing up and getting control of your finances. Don’t make promises, financial or otherwise, you can’t keep. I know this is a tough, embarrassing situation, but it’s what I would do if I were in your shoes.

ROMEO DEAR ROMEO, That’s a tough one. I’m not certain they would depreciate like a trailer, but I don’t think they would go up in value much, either.

Anytime there’s a very lim-

ited demand for something, the price or value doesn’t generally increase. And there are very few people looking to buy tiny homes. The tiny home movement is kind of a niche thing. It’s a very narrow market, and something that doesn’t have a lot of demand isn’t going to appreciate.

I would avoid the tiny house movement if I were you, Romeo.

Don’t invest in things that don’t have proven track records and don’t go up in value. I love real estate, but not tiny real estate.
