fter years of discussion, the village of romeoville has decided that time has come to demolish and rebuild its busiest fire station. fire station No. 1, located at 18 Montrose drive, has been deemed too defunct to remodel, and plans are in motion to demolish the existing structure and begin work on a new station. While other locations were considered, the current location was chosen for its proximity within the village. “this is not a new project and one we have talked about in varying stages,” said Mayor John Noak. “there is no doubt the fire station needs to be replaced and needs work. We have probably squeezed more life out of it than we should have. the time has come for it to be done.” see ‘rebuilD’ Page 9
