The national event is held on the first Tuesday in August and is coordinated by the National Association of Town Watch. The NationalNight Out started in 1983 and has grown annually. Niles first participated in the NNO in 2002 and has participated every year since. Niles Park District officials hope to have a new skate park at Washing Terrace Park open by the fall. On Aug. 4, the Niles Park District Board unanimously voted to award $54,820 to Manuso Concrete and $108,196.97 to L.A.based Spohn Ranch Skate Parks.
