New hotel/conference center plan a dream come true for Joliet officials By Nick Reiher Managing Editor
J
oliet could have the hotel and conference center officials they long have been wanting. It will cost them a $2.4 million investment up front. They don’t mind. “Welcome to Joliet,” Councilwoman Jan Quillman told Sejal Patel and Sanjiv Mehrotra of the Aurora-based Hospitality Guru Group at a June 3 Pre-Council meeting. They are proposing a project that includes two connected hotels with a total of 200 rooms on property owned by IDI in the Rock Run Business Center on Houbolt Road just north of Interstate 80.There will be a conference center attached to the hotels, and a fullservice restaurant in the facility. Patel told the council on June 3 the conference center banquet room would be able to accommodate 400 to
