Local legend Earl D’Amico dies at 85 restaurateur, raconteur, friend to stars and presidents, community servant. charming, bow-tied earl d’amico just about did it all during his 85 years in the Joliet area. d’amico, born in Joliet on the day the great depression began, oct. 29, 1929, passed away dec. 11 after battling heart issues. “Joliet has lost a great friend; i have lost a great friend,” said Joe shetina, former Joliet councilman who was among di’amico’s closest friends for some 40 years. “he never met a stranger. you met him, and he would talk to you for 20 minutes. we’ll all miss him a lot.” see the full story oN Page 3
