Guided J.D. Brown Pharmacy and renaissance of Jacob Henry Mansion BY niCK ReiheR | For tHe BUgLe en Pritz did much to help Joliet stay strong, whether as a city councilman, the owner of one of the oldest pharmacies in the state or by bringing back the old Jacob Henry Mansion so people had a place to celebrate fond memories. But when it came right down to it, Pritz, who passed away Sunday at 78 after a courageous battle with cancer, was most proud that he did it all with his family around him. “Ken was like the Walt Disney of Joliet, a man of talent, vision and pillar of the Joliet Community,” said Mary Jaworski, president of the Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce. “He built a legacy that his family will continue as they were his pride and joy. “He said at an awards dinner years ago, ‘You take care of the people, and the business will take care of its self.’ The business community feels that Ken lived this moto and did it so well. He will be dearly missed by all.” Joliet Mayor Tom Giarrante said Pritz leaves a strong legacy. “Ken was a great promoter for our city,” he said. “He was a past member of the Joliet City Council, a successful businessman, and leaves a family he and Carol can be very proud of. Our family’s thoughts and prayers go out for Ken and his family.”
