In an area where seasonal weather changes mean potholes and asphalt cracks, the village of Plainfield is taking a step to manage local roadways and stay on top of issues before they become problematic. The village board this week approved a pavement management and condition survey of Plainfield’s 400-plus lane miles of roads. Pavement management will include counting cracks and measuring them, as well as a survey of the rates and severity of the distresses found. It’s the second time the village has performed such a survey. During the summer of 2011, the village authorized Infrastructure Management Services to complete a comprehensive evaluation of the pavement conditions within the village’s road network. The company will now return to conduct a second survey, which will include roads not
