Independence Day may have come and gone, but thanks to illegal sales, those rockets red glare still hang in the air as summer goes on. The Plainfield Police Department took a moment during the June 26 Committee of the Whole meeting to remind the public that fireworks are illegal in the village. “We have extra patrols out, we always remind the citizens every year to please not set off fireworks,” said Plainfield Police Commander Ken Ruggles. “There is a fine involved, of course we want that to be the last thing.” The Plainfield fireworks and explosive ordinance prohibits the sale, possession, use, and discharge of fireworks or other SEE FIREWORKS PAGE 13
