The Village of Plainfield has more than 115 acres of land that needs attention. On July 18, the village trustees approved the purchase of two commercial lawn mowers, to replace two aging machines in the village’s fleet of eight. The two mowers that will be replaced are each approximately ten years old. The village will replace them with two, 60-inch power mowers, which officials noted have newer features that benefit operations. “It’s better on maneuverability,” said Director of Public Works Allen Persons. “They actually discharge from the back of the mowing deck, so the grass is mulched, and it’s not thrown on the roadways or into the storm sewers.” The new mowers will also have improved fuel performance over the aging models.
