VILLAGE NEWS

Village seeks development of vacant land Area sits next to planned bus depot BY MARNEY SIMON Enterprise Staff @plainďŹ eldnews sweditor@enterprisepublications.com

A new bus depot and park-and-ride facility is in the engineering phase in Plainfield. But with more land available, the village is now looking at additional development opportunities to go along with the new transportation center. Earlier this month, village staff presented strategies for pursuing development of the surplus property that is not required for the park-and-ride facility. Back in January, the board approved a plan to utilize village owned property for a new park-and-ride facility along Van Dyke Road. The facility will accommodate a new bus depot for PACE, the suburban bus division of the Regional Transportation Authority. The scope of the project includes a 400-space parking lot, with future expansion to accommodate 600 cars, a new stoplight and entrance drive, and a shelter with washrooms SEE VACANT PAGE 5
