Police lauded by Plainfield Village Board Officials recognize officers in wake of Dallas killings By Marney Simon Enterprise Staff

Before moving on with the regular tasks of the day, officials in Plainfield took time out to say thank you to law enforcement. In light of the five police officers killed July 7 in Dallas, Village President Michael Collins addressed the difficult task that caring for a community can be for law enforcement during the village board’s July 11 meeting. “It’s a terrible situation around the country right now, and I certainly hope that people of wisdom engage,” Collins said. Other trustees echoed that sentiment. “I think it’s important that we stand together and support not only our local police officers, but all the officers serving and protecting the residents,” said Trustee Edward O’Rourke. “Knowing that they put themselves in harm’s way to protect us every day, for me, it’s a great feeling. I’m not an officer, I know some officer, some of my family members are officers. God bless all of you.” Trustees also noted that Plainfield is lucky enough to have a proactive police
