Torch Run kicks off June 11 On Monday, June 11 the Law Enforcement Torch Run to benefit Special Olympics begins in Plainfield. There will be a short opening ceremony beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Settlers’ Park Amphitheater behind Village Hall with the run step-off time at 9 a.m. Following the opening ceremony, runners from the Police Department and other participants will carry the torch along a five mile route through the Village finally meeting up with runners from the Shorewood Police Department in the area of Caton Farm Road and Drauden Road. The Plainfield leg 5 continues on to Manhattan. The Plainfield police encourage residents to come out and show support as the runners pass by. Motorists can expect some temporary lane closures and some traffic congestion for short periods of time. Any questions can be directed to Plainfield Chief of Police John Konopek at 815-436-6544.
