At the April 11 District 202 Board of Education meeting, Finance Director Rick Engstrom presented the bid results for a three-year custodial service contract. According to the district, the three bids received to outsource services promise to reduce costs between $908,000 and $9.9 million over the next three years, depending on pay rates, benefits and the number of positions employed. District 202 informed Plainfield Association of Support Staff that the school board was considering outsourcing the custodial staff Feb. 11. Since then, custodians and other supporters have rallied at each board meeting and protested the outsourcing proposal. “It was very much a surprise,” Ann Bachman-Mcintosh, union director for PASS, said. She added that the union was in
