Plainfield OKs $52.9M budget Budget takes into account 20 percent cut in state revenues By Andrea Earnest Enterprise Staff

The Plainfield Village Board last week approved a $52.9 million spending plan for fiscal year 2016-17, which takes into account an expected 20 percent cut in state revenues. Director of Management Services Traci Pleckham said the balanced budget – approved during the board’s March 21 meeting – includes $58.64 million in revenue and $56.63 in expenses. Revenues for the current fiscal year are estimated at $55.31 million, compared with $51.1 million in expenses. Fiscal 2016-17 starts May 1. The budget includes $23.57 million for the general fund, $15.8 million for water and sewer operations, and $9.52 million for capital improvements. The village’s property tax rate will remain at 0.4669. Three revenue streams make up the majority of general fund revenues, according to the village. State of Illinois taxes account for 42.16 percent of the general fund, property taxes contribute 22.11 percent of revenues and service charges make up 18.37 percent of the fund.
