VILLAGE NEWS
Talks remain over new interchange Village still involved in study for possible new access point to I-55 BY MARNEY SIMON Enterprise Staff @plainfieldnews sweditor@enterprisepublications.com
MORE INFO
It’s been several years since talk first surfaced of finding adding an alternative interchange onto I-55 between the current access points at U.S. Route 30 and Route 126. But after all this time, the talk remains still just talk. The study would explore the need for an interchange at Route 126, as well as a possible interchange at Lockport Street/Airport Road. The interchange would enable drivers and truck traffic to travel to major commercial and industrial areas within the village, without having to drive through the heavily congested downtown core. It would also improve regional access and serve an increasing demand of traffic. Still, actual construction of any such work is nowhere in sight.
