The Plainfield Police Department looks to run the next fiscal year on a slightly larger budget over the current fiscal year. On Nov. 28, members of the village board heard a proposal for the Plainfield Police Department budget, effective for the fiscal year that starts on May 1, 2017 and ends on April 30, 2018 (FY18). Crunching those numbers, the department looks to spend a total of $12.6 million in FY18, compared to $12.1 million during the current fiscal year. That number includes $7.2 million in salaries and $3.5 million in benefits, while the rest will be divided among utilities, supplies, contractual services, and other expenditures. The Plainfield Police Department budget provides for a variety of different operations, including patrol, administration, and community services. Within those divisions, the
