A look at the current fiscal year shows a lack of cash from the state of Illinois, a move that has the village of Plainfield making a conservative spending plan for the next fiscal year. The projected budget for fiscal year 2018 (FY18) which runs from May 1, 2017 to April 30, 2018, shows an estimated $24.1 expected to come into the village’s general fund. The budget was presented to the board of trustees during a Committee of the Whole workshop on Nov. 14. The general fund is used for the bulk of the village’s day to day costs, including administration, police and street department operational funds, and the building department. Director of Management Services Traci Pleckham said for the current fiscal year, the village has estimated revenues of $23.5 million in the general fund. About 42 percent of that cash comes from taxes from the state, and of those taxes, about one-third come SEE BUDGET PAGE 5
