VILLAGE NEWS

Village moves forward with 143rd St. west Board authorized agreement for design on Nov. 5 BY MARNEY SIMON Enterprise Staff @plainfieldnews sweditor@enterprisepublications.com

The village of Plainfield has taken the first steps to extending 143rd Street west toward Kendall County. On Nov. 5, members of the village board authorized an agreement with Baxter and Woodman, Inc., for design and engineering services for the 143rd extension. Director of Public Works Allen Persons told the board that while a great deal of emphasis has been put on the eastern 143rd extension over the past few years, the westerly expansion of the road is also key to connectivity and ease of traffic flow through Plainfield. “This would be west of Steiner and that area, and ultimately extend and interconnect with Ridge Road,” Persons said. “While this is an important project and ultimately the future Route 126 reroute at some point in the future, and that may be many, many years in the future, it’s important that it’s constructed properly.” A portion of the road will be developed by Seefried Properties, who are constructing a new warehouse at 143rd and Steiner for Diageo. The village is responsible for the remainder of the road from SEE 143RD PAGE 4
