Members of the District 202 transportation department and Septran, the district’s special education transportation provider stand with (center) Director of Transportation Ellen Theobald and (center right) Superintendent Dr. Lane Abrell to celebrate the success of Septran’s first-ever “Stuff-A-Bus” winter clothing drive on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018. Septran collected dozens of boxes of winter coats, hats, gloves and other winter gear from District 202 buildings. The items will be donated to needy District 202 families and community members.

The Plainfield Fire Protection District is collecting new toy donations for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program. Toys may be dropped off at any of our four fire stations. Fire Station 1 is located at 14415 S. Coil Plus Drive, Fire Station 2 is at 23806 W. 135th Street, Fire Station 3 is at 25001 W. 119th Street and Fire Station 4 is at 15930 S. Frederick Street. Toys may also be dropped off at Fire District Headquarters at 23748 W. 135th Street; hours for this location are 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Donations are due by Tuesday, Dec. 11 in order for the Toys for Tots Foundation to have enough time for sorting, wrapping and distribution of the toys. Donated toys need to be new and in their original packaging and not gift wrapped. Toys for children ages 8-12 are needed the most and stuffed animal toys cannot be accepted. To sign up a child to be a Toys for Tots recipient, or for more information about the Toys for Tots program, please visit the local Toys for Tots web site at https://joliet-il.toysfortots.org/localcoordinator-sites/lco-sites/requesttoys.aspx. The Plainfield Fire Protection District thanks everyone for their continued support of this program.
