With Old Man Winter knocking on Plainfield’s door, village officials say they’re geared up and ready with salt for the streets and manpower to keep them clear. On Nov. 5, the board approved two measures for winter prep, presented by Director of Public Works Allen Persons. First, the board approved agreements with several contractors for snow removal. “The village has utilized outside contractors to assist with snow removal for over 30 years,” Persons noted. “When we were a lot smaller, it was only one contractor. Now we’ve grown to the point where we utilize anywhere from six to eight contractors in a given winter season, depending on the demand.” The village will utilize Antrex, Inc., Win-
