A popular race that benefits those who sacrificed for the United States will return next spring to Plainfield. On Oct. 16, the village board approved the 2018 Run for the Brave 5K, formerly the Wounded Warrior 5K. The annual event is coordinated by Operation Welcome You Home. Next year’s race will mark the seventh year for the event. The race is a fundraiser for military veterans injured while serving. Last year, the race was moved from Settler’s Park to the Wallin Woods subdivision. The race moves to Plainfield North High School in 2018, utilizing the same basic route as the annual Fast Cat 5K. The Plainfield Police Department estimates the run will require roughly two hours of street closures and 20 personnel. The event is expected to attract roughly SEE RACE PAGE 4
